Class of 1946 Band Director - Community Leader 28 Years of Service Developed Band Program into a state recognized organization. Bands participated in many converts, public special events, civic gatherings, parades, competitions, contests, and festivals. Bands performed at most of the Port Clinton City Schools major athletic events, including 270 half-time shows, 700 pep-band performances, parades, bonfires and the famous high school pep assemblies. Earl and his band made Port Clinton proud of our traditions at athletic events. His efforts are much appreciated and our memories of these years of support to Port Clinton Athletics will not be forgotten. "Port Clinton is a much better place today because of Earl Warnke and his musical support for athletics in our schools." Earl is a 1946 graduate of Port Clinton High School. While a student at PCHS Earl was always involved in the music curriculum and other related activities. After graduation Earl went on to serve in the Armed Forces and then attended The Ohio State University. Earl was a member of the OSU Marching Band and upon his return he brought the great tradition of the OSU Band to PCHS. Since his retirement in 1985 Earl has maintained his interest in music by forming a directing the North Coast Community Band. The North Coast Community Band has provided free community concerts enjoyed by many of our residents. |
