BASKETBALL- TRACK- GOLF Earned 5 Letters 2 in Basketball, 2 in Track, 1 in Golf County Track Champion in the Mile and Half Mile in 1956 Held Ottawa County Mile Record at 4:29 GOLF- Member of the PCHS Golf Team Earned 3 Varsity Letters on the Ohio State University Golf Team Runner-up Ohio Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Won Big Ten Golf Championship in 1961, Team Captain 1961. Played as Amateur on Professional Golf Tour, Including the National Open, Played North- South Amateur 10 Years straight. Won State Elks Tournament 11 years, National Elks 1 Year. Earned Degree in Optometry at Ohio State University in 1962 At Ohio State University Charles Meek was a member of the golf team and earned 3 varsity letters. As captain of the 1961 team, he helped lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship. Even though golf consumed most of his time, he still managed to play on the OSU Freshman Basketball team. His many golf accomplishments include Runner-up in the Ohio Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, State Elks Golf Tournament Champion for 11 years, and National Elks Golf Tournament Champion in 1964. Charles Meek received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1960 and entered the College of Optometry, where he earned his degree in 1962. Dr. Meek has been practicing Optometry in Port Clinton since 1963. |
