FOOTBALL- TRACK- BASKETBALL- BASEBALL Earned 6 Varsity Letters- 3 in Football, 3 in Track FOOTBALL- Team Captain 1965- MVP 1964, 65 TRACK- Discus and Shot Put Record Holder Won Athletic Scholarship to Indiana University in 1966 Member of the Indiana Football Team Played in Rose Bowl Game 1968 ROWING CHAMPION Represented the United States in International Competition in Kayak Singles and Doubles Bob Nichols graduated from Indiana University in 1971 with a degree in business education. His business career took him to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he worked with Merrill Lynch in real estate for about twenty years. He started a rowing club, called "Nichols Rowing", which became very successful as a result of his efforts and enthusiasm. He established himself as a rowing champion, won numerous races and represented the United States in international Kayak singles and doubles competition. Bob Nichols will be inducted into the Port Clinton Athletic Hall of Fame posthumously. He died in 1990at the age of 42. Bob Nichols is remembered as an outstanding Port Clinton athlete, "a man who loved sports and life".
