As friend and benefactor to our community made substantial contributions to the Athletic Program of Port Clinton High School

As a successful business entrepreneur and former athlete, who excelled in swimming, and as the father of two successful PCHS graduates- recognized the value of supporting a strong Athletic Program in our community

Among other contributions, provided generous funds for an all weather track to be built at True-Lay Stadium

Fred Heigel was a man of great integrity and provided business opportunities for several thousand people through his business operations. He graduated from The Ohio State University in restaurant management, served in the National Guard and became a successful manager in the Stouffer hotel and restaurant division. At age 27, he became general manager of the Catawba Island Club and held that position for 17 years. As an independent business man, he succeeded in developing many food franchises, ranging from Northwest Ohio to Florida and Utah and also had many other local business interests. Fred Heigel died on April 17, 1991. He is survived by his widow, Vickie and his two children, Jonathan Eric and Jennifer Ann.
