Board of Education Office
Summer is always busy in the school district as our summer work crew cleans, paints and gets the buildings in top shape for the new school year. This summer has been exceptionally busy with the parking lot project at the high school and the renovation of the back wing of the high school into a new Industrial Technology Lab and Band Room. At Bataan Memorial Elementary School, the first step in the construction project took place as abatement crews removed all the tile flooring in preparation for the renovation and construction of the new addition to begin in 2011.

Several new staff members were also hired over the summer to fill vacancies from retirements. We welcome the following to our school district and community: Erin Ohm, Bataan Kindergarten; Sarah Piskos, PCMS Math; Mallory Myers, PCMS Language Arts; Jennifer Wilhelm Amos, PCMS Language Arts; Jennifer Kelley, PCMS Science; Kyle Kunard, PCMS Science; Eric Watts, HS & MS Choir; Teresa Fillmore, Bataan Kindergarten; and Robert Good, PCHS Industrial Technology.
While students were still enjoying summer vacation, our teachers have been busy at work. There have been several planning meetings to help create the design of our new school buildings. Teachers in Kindergarten through Grade 8 have attended training sessions that have taken place this summer gaining knowledge in some new educational initiatives to enhance classroom instruction.

We are extremely excited for the 2010-11 school year and all the changes that come with it. This school year also brings us one year closer to the opening of new school buildings in the 2012-13 school year!

Respectfully,

Patrick D. Adkins,
Superintendent of Schools
