Although we are in the midst of the 2009-10 school year, planning has already begun for 2010-11. High school students are scheduling for classes for next year and grade 8 parents recently met with the high school staff to learn about the four-year high school education plan. The calendar committee will soon meet to set the dates for the school calendar for 2010-11 and that will be posted online as soon as it is available.
We are also in the process of planning for our new school buildings. While you may not see any dirt being moved or buildings going up there is still a lot going on. Numerous design meetings have been set as we look to the future. To assist staff in knowing what new designs are available, the elementary and middle school staff traveled to new schools in the area on the February 12, 2010 Inservice Day. This allowed them to see first hand the new design elements that could be incorporated to enhance education in our new buildings.
Shortly after receiving the good news about receiving $15 million in Qualified School Construction Bonds, we had more good news. Our district bond rating is AA+ - the second highest of any school district in the State of Ohio. This high bond rating will result in six years off the collection and will likely lead to a reduced millage rate through the bond payment schedule. Please visit our

Our community has also had its share of bad news lately with injuries, illness, and even death. Amidst the tragedy, it is heartwarming to see our students and community rally around those that need us. It is a tribute to our entire community and the reason we choose to call Port Clinton “home”.
